From Long Island to Queens to Brooklyn to Manhattan and maybe even one time to the Bronx, then to San Francisco and Chicago, my favorite sneakers have reached the end of their life. I haven’t worn them more than once in the past 2 years, but I held on to them for the memories they helped me create. Really great ones that stemmed from more than the cities they helped me walk through, but the people and ideas that surrounded the time of my life when I was 19-30.
Turning 30 didn’t instill a deep life altering feeling in me…not until I had to make the conscious decision to remove such an iconic piece of my past. These limited edition satin Converse most reminded me of me becoming myself.
So, thanks little shoes, and sorry I wore away your soles while you helped me find mine.
